When you hear the words “gothic romance,” you probably think dark, deep tones: black, burgundy, dusky gray, twilight purple. Not so if you’re Selena Gomez, however! Just a few days after rocking a super shiny black patent leather manicure at the 2024 Golden Globes, Gomez switched things up with a much lighter manicure that feels anything but goth.
Gomez’s go-to manicurist Tom Bachik was responsible for her latest set, a soft, plushy neutral pink. Bachik filed Gomez’s nails into a gentle almond shape and painted them with a few coats of Aprés Nail Gel Couleur in Gothic Romance, which the brand describes as a “dark pink.” I personally would describe it as a taupe-toned rose with neutral undertones, but would not call it gothic in the more traditional sense of the word. That said, it’s a lovely shade, and versatile enough for red carpets and Monday morning meetings alike. It’s not hot Barbie pink or cute bubblegum pink, but a sophisticated and subtle tone that leans more “my nails but better” than “a trip to Hot Topic.”
