Saba Karim lavishes praises for Sanju Samson, claims Maiden ton vs SA has given fresh lease of life
Former India cricketer Saba Karim has pinned his hopes on Sanju Samson. Karim believes that the maiden ODI ton in the IND vs SA 3rd ODI has given Sanju Samson a fresh lease of life. Initially, Samson was not a part of India’s T20I squad. But owing to his stunning century, Samson now finds a place in the India Squad against Afghanistan.
There is no Ishan Kishan in the squad. KL Rahul too has been rested from the 3-match T20I series keeping in mind about the upcoming IND vs ENG Test series. As a result Samson gets his much needed callup along with fellow keeper Jitesh Sharma.

“That ODI hundred in South Africa has given Samson a fresh lease of life. This shows that if you put faith in a player like Samson, he’s bound to come good and he showed that against South Africa. If you see him batting in the nets, it’s more than evident that he has that trigger movement, which is like a back press, which allows him to get on the front-foot very easily. This will also help Samson generate more power off the back-foot,” said Saba Karim to Star Sports.
Saba Karim has heaped praises for Samson. He went on to clarify how putting trust on a player helps him play and perform well. Karim also went on to explain the technicalities as to how Samson can generate power while playing his shots.
“He’s just a remarkable player. So flawless in his timing, in the way he controls the innings. I think he’s made up his mind that he will be called to bat in difficult positions and situations and he is trying to figure that out. If he gets in the starting XI, he will have to bat at number 4 or 5. So he has to get accustomed to that kind of role also,” Karim concluded.
